Alright all my baddies it’s time to share my coming out story! The good, the bad, and the ratchet! To set the stage I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, and raised by my mother who was the sweetest and she always taught me to be myself and love those around you, and go after my goals.

“I was always labelled as a lesbian”

Anyway, I was a late bloomer to everything, didn’t have my first kiss until I was 15, and first relationship until 17, both were with a guy. However, since high school, I was always labelled as a lesbian. Apparently, I was too touchy-feely with the women folk (listen I just loved to hug and to give dashes of sweetness to the women around me). I also was on the varsity softball team in HS so that probably didn’t help lol.

I didn’t realize my love for women until college sophomore year going into junior year, I was dating this guy (2nd and last ever BF) who had this gorgeous friend and I use to always say he shouldn’t be friends with her because if she had me hot to trot WHO KNOWS how excited she made him.

Anyhow, added to that the guy sucked (AKA Fuckboy season) but what he did help me with was realizing life isn’t all about following a certain set of rules! You can be a crappy person, you can date who you want, you can be who the hell ever you choose to be!

“I found my home within myself”

So, after we broke up I tried it with a few other guys to make sure but I knew in the back of my mind what I truly wanted. So that summer I came out without ever dating a woman, being with a woman, dates, NOTHING. But I knew, I just KNEW and as soon as I came out by sending that tweet mind you (I’m a millennial deal with it) I found my home within myself.

I lost friends, gained new ones, and A LOT of back and forth with my parents but I was truly myself, and to excuse my French I didn’t give a damn what anyone had to say! Fast forward almost ten years later I am engaged to the love of my life, living on the east coast and my parents finally coming around. Well, one at least.

I have never been so happy and it all started with saying damn to everything and deciding to be truly me. *Twirls for the girls as I make my exit*
