This month we’re introducing you to Devan and Lexi!

UUK: Congratulations on getting featured here on Queer Love; we’re really excited to get to know your gorgeous selves more! Read more to find out about our American-based, long distance couple who got together in the height of a Global Pandemic! First things first; we all need to know how the two of you met one another? Let us all in on your very first experience together and melt our hearts!

Devan: Lexi and I met through Hinge. It was around March 2020, right when COVID Lockdown began. Her smile was definitely one of the first things I noticed about Lex. I am a stickler for perfect teeth. Once I kept scrolling down her hinge profile I noticed she had a video of her singing and her amazing voice drew me in.

A month after talking on FaceTime almost every night, we finally met in person.

 At the time we had both been staying with our parents and had to come up with some excuse as to why we wanted to go back to LA during the height of a Pandemic! Ill never forget our first date. We planned to hang out at Echo Park and I nervously packed canned wine, snacks and even went to get a full car wash before picking Lexi up. Once I arrived at her house, flowers in hand, she walked down from the stairs. I crossed the street and we embraced in a long hug. We then got in my car and I literally could not stop staring at her. Both of our hearts were pounding that we needed at least 5 minutes of sitting there just looking at each other, taking it all in.

UUK: I’m sure there are many of us who can relate to this feeling – Long distance love is like no other!

Devan: Yes! When you know someone so well through texts and phone calls and FaceTime to finally meeting them in person, that experience is like nothing else! After catching our breaths we headed for the park. I can hands down say, best first date ever! I made the move to kiss her first and from then on we could not stop randomly kissing each other. Lexi and I were very new to kissing another girl, let alone in public, but in that moment in time we could care less about the other people in the park. The first meeting Lexi was something out of a movie and i’ll never forget that time or feeling we had that day.

UUK: AAaaah my heart! Honestly it’s so, so nice to hear about other Long Distance couples and their stories – it’s making a LOT of hearts happy right now. I don’t know about you but exchanging your favourite music when apart can really help make the distance feel less. Do you two relate?

Devan: Yes we do. Music is a big staple in our relationship. When Lexi and I first started talking, she made me a playlist of music she thought I would like and titled it “4 Dev”. Not only was it really fucking cute that she made me a playlist, but all the songs were really good and I was impressed. Now we continue to show each other songs we find!

However the “sharing” aspect can get a little rough.
She’s a Spotify girl and I am an Apple music girl, but we work through it.

We have many favourite songs and I think certain songs that play always bring us back to where we were at the time of our relationship. It’s cool to have certain songs that give us a time stamp on our journey. One song that will always make us cry and think about each other is “Whelmed” by Emawk.

UUK: Thank you for sharing that beautiful song with all of us; it’s so great to have another insight into your lives! With Valentine’s Day fast approaching – i’d love to hear of what else you share together. What has been your favourite V’ Day experience so far?

Devan: Lex and I have had one Valentine’s day together so far and it was really special. I am in medical school so sometimes important dates do not always line up well with my exam schedule, but last year I was lucky enough to have my midterm fall before the 14th. I flew out to Vegas, where Lexi lives and we went to an amazing dinner at a really nice steakhouse. One thing that Lexi and I get a lot when we go out and get all dressed up is the host or server will ask;

“Sisters?” to which we always laugh and kindly say, “No, we’re dating!”

UUK: It’s so cringe worthy when that happens, those poor waiters! To wrap up your time on Queer Love; we’d love to hear of your plans for 2022! What’s in store for the pair of you?

Devan: 2022 has a lot in store for myself and Lexi. I start the second half of my medical school training, which entails starting rotations at different hospitals and spending my time there. Lexi is working hard on her music and producing and I cannot wait to see what amazing project she will create. Long distance relationships are never easy, especially with medical school in the mix, but I know our relationship is strong and we have made it this far. I think 2022 will be a testament to how strong our love for each other is, but I am very hopeful that we will find what works best for us and our future.

UUK: Thank you SO much for being part of this feature – it’s been really great to talk with another long distance couple! I am so confident that your insightful words shall be really beneficial and comforting to our readers! We wish the best of luck with your future plans Lexi and Devan! Perhaps we could do another interview this time next year with updates of your life!
