This campaign is powerful; highlighting the various ways in which queer womxn are uniquely objectified, stigmatized and discriminated against.

As a transwoman, I am innately sexualized in society largely due to the media; often being exclusively represented as a sex worker, a mental illness, or, as declared by an anchor on Fox News, a “science experiment.” In dating life, I almost constantly feel like an experiment: first date inquiries quickly jumping to my sex organs, endless micro aggressions confirming that I’m considered subordinate, the degrading assumptions of the hyper sexualized stereotype of “the transsexual.” Almost daily I receive dating app messages and DM’s with intense interest, only to find myself blocked the next day because my body and my being as a queer womxn create fear and panic.

Recently, I have been harassed online with explicit comments and messages targeting my body and my womanhood, including “you can’t be a sister if you have a penis.” My (presumed) sex parts seem to be on almost everyone’s mind, which is a dangerous fixation that makes trans womxn and trans people uniquely sexualized and often targeted. The public and private sexualization of queer womxn is harmful, making us more susceptible to aggression and violence.

I am trans and queer and sexual. Celebrating and embracing my divine sensuality does not make me deserving of your sexualization.
Your sexualization of me is dangerous and has consequences. I do not owe cis heteronormative society anything.

I am not indebted to you because I exist.
