Stop sexualizing queer womxn (without our permission)!!

Damn near everyday I walk to work, a man feels the need to sexualize my body without my consent. It really sucks because I’m just trying to make it to work, and the last thing I need is to feel self-conscious. As a trans womxn I already am over-conscious of how my body presents itself to society.

I have toxic messages in my head that play on repeat, and the fact that my body is negatively sexualized feeds these messages. I’d love to live in a world where I can feel safe doing the most mundane tasks (e.g. going to work, taking a walk, grocery shopping) but that’s not the world I live in. As a queer womxn, I am forced to constantly live with some small fear of being hurt physically or verbally because I am either femme-presenting or queer.

It’s exhausting, and the time I spend on fear could be better spent living my life. I am in solidarity with @unite_uk1 in their #stopsexualisingqueerwomxn campaign because I think it’s important to share our experiences and unite in our fight to free queer womxn.
