What was ‘Coming out’ like for you?

Coming out for me was uncomfortable and not as welcoming by family and friends as I thought it would be. It was lonely and cold for a while at the age of 12. So, I suppressed my feelings for women until I became 25 of age and from there I Came out again and my family was more open to me being with women.

What would you say to your younger self if you were to come out again?

I would advise my younger self to be yourself and push the fear of being seen as abnormal.

What do you feel like society can do to help the youth of the LGBTQ community?

To set aside their prejudices and keep an open mind in order to be of “real” help to others.

You’re all role model to the LGBTQ community but who is your role model within the LGBTQ community?

I believe we all are role models in the LGBTQ community whether we star on a show or people in society.

Dee

Diondrea Hysaw, affectionately known as Dee, was born on a cold winter night, when even time seemed to stand still, in Van Nuys, California. Hysaw was a very active, curious, and communicative child, asking dozens of questions each minute, even without waiting for the answers.

Fortunately, her thirst for knowledge did not come to an end when she entered school. Highly passionate about history and economics, this passion helped Hysaw gain profound knowledge in these areas, and helping her be admitted to the college of my dreams. Certain that her dedication and drive to “WIN” in life will become her ticket to a better tomorrow, Hysaw aspires to a renowned Business Owner and impact others’ lives in the field of employment legislation..

Of course, she understands that life is not just a bed of roses, and challenges and hardships are an integral element of life. Today, Hysaw is the Project Manager at SolarCity-Tesla Energy Inc. and also owns her own business called Candibybff Boutique.

In addition to being a savvy business woman, in 2016 Hysaw was granted to opportunity to stand behind some pretty heavy hitters in the indie LGBT community and play the role of Leigh in the upcoming sitcom “3030” based in Las Vegas, NV which wrapped filming in early 2017.
